Home Department to offer Skill Training for Unemployed Tibetan Youths

Dharamshala: The home department of the Central Tibetan Administration has announced the skill training opportunities for the Tibetan unemployed youths, for the year 2008-09.

The training will be held at Institute for Small Trade Learning in Neelamangalam in Bangalore, South India. Those interested in doing the training should enroll with their respected settlement officer or at the Department of Home, before 5 March and the training will commence from April 2008.

Employment generating courses, including diploma program in hair styling, medical transcription, certificate in retail execution (salesman), combined fast track in beauty therapy and hair dressing, carpentry, tailoring, would be offered.

Besides beauty therapy, carpentry and tailoring, medical transcription today has become a well-paid and highly demanded job. A beginner starts with a monthly income of around Rs. 8000/- and as the speed and skill improves, the earnings will increase accordingly.

Technological oriented courses, such as diploma in computer engineering, certificate in mobile phone technology, diploma in electrical engineering, certificate in photography, certificate in multi-media, diploma in hardware and network engineering and Microsoft certified in system engineering, would be taught at the training.

The trainees can get a plethora of employment scopes, including setting up mechanic shops for solving electrical and mechanical problems in the settlements. computer centres for photographic, web-design works, media publishing.

According to the Youth Empowerment Section of the Home Department, it has successfully provided skill training to around 624 Tibetan youths, so far. The program has been successful in generating employment to around 54 per cent of trained youths
